‘A beacon for intellectual enquiry and open-mindedness’ Financial Times

‘Anyone interested in Arab culture in London today is aware of the invaluable role Saqi plays, not only as a focal point for the city’s Middle Easterners, but also in making available pioneering, specialist and often controversial books’ The Times

Voted second in the Telegraph’s top fifty independent bookshops of 2010

Located in Notting Hill, Al Saqi Books is Europe’s largest Middle Eastern specialist bookseller with the most comprehensive stock of books on the Middle East in English, as well as books on all subjects in Arabic. The bookshop spawned the creation of a publishing wing, Saqi Books, with its offices directly above the shop, and stocks its current and backlist titles.

Since opening in 1978, the bookshop has become a centre of Arab life in London, catering for Arab residents in the UK as well as for travellers keen to obtain books banned in their own countries. Al Saqi Books is well known among the Arab community, as well as with students and academics of the region.
